EAST AFRICAN COUNTRIES TO BE INCLUDED IN YOUR TRAVEL LIST

Every year, foreigners look forward to exploring the African continent, but picking which country to visit might be a little bit of a hassle. Africa is a continent consisting of 54 countries, and most of these countries have beautiful tourist attractions that people visit to savor the African goodness. We have compiled a list of countries in Eastern Africa that should be added to your travel list.

1. SEYCHELLES

The Republic of Seychelles is a country located in the eastern part of Africa. Seychelles consists of 115 islands and it’s the least populated sovereign country in Africa. Seychelles is one of the tourists’ favorite destinations with an abundance of remote islands, white sand beaches, and sky-blue waters, it’s not a surprise that tourism is one of the factors that contribute to Seychelles’s wealth. Some of the points of interest are the beaches with azure water like Eden Island, Beau Vallon Beach, and Anse Source d’Argent.

2. KENYA

Kenya is a country in East Africa and its capital is Nairobi. Kenya is blessed with savannahs, Lakelands, the dramatic Great Rift Valley, and mountain highlands. It’s also home to wildlife like lions, elephants, and rhinos. Due to these attractions, tourists troop in yearly to enjoy the sunlight, kaleidoscopic beaches, and wildlife. One of the interesting attractions in Kenya is the snake tour. Kenya boasts of over 120 species of snakes, and tourists enjoy delving into the jungles to witness these species in their natural habitats. Kenya has two popular safari parks which are the Masai Mara National Park and Amboseli National Park. Amboseli offers unbeatable views of Tanzania’s Mount Kilimanjaro. However, Kenya has 50 national parks.

3. MAURITIUS

Mauritius is an island nation in East Africa. Mauritius is a perfect destination for tourists that need a place to escape from the hustle and bustle of the world. In 2019, Global Peace Index ranked Mauritius as the most peaceful African country. Mauritius is considered a luxury destination with its crystal clear water, palm trees, amazing underwater waterfall, and white sand beaches. Some of the top attraction sites are the Ile aux Cerfs; where tourists can walk under the sea, which is an activity for non-swimmers, Chamarel waterfalls, Belle Mare beach, and Le Caudan waterfront; this is where brightly colored umbrellas shade the street.

4. TANZANIA

The home of the popular Mount Kilimanjaro (Africa’s highest mountain), Tanzania is a country with vast wilderness areas. The safaris, wildlife, and tranquil shores are what attract tourists to Tanzania. Activities like scuba diving and snorkeling are also enjoyed on islands like Pemba and Mafia island, where tourists savor the beauty of the coral gardens and colorful fishes. The island of Zanzibar is one of the most visited destinations in Tanzania. Zanzibar is known for its beautiful beaches and stone town.

5. MADAGASCAR

Madagascar is the second largest island in the world and it wasn’t discovered until 500AD. Madagascar is best known for its lemurs, chameleons, Nile crocodiles, and towering baobab trees. Some of the tourist attractions in Madagascar are The Avenue of Baobabs, Nosy Iranja, Tsingy Rouge (a stone formation of red laterite formed by the erosion of the Irodo river), and Tsingy Ankarana (one of the most bizarre landscapes on earth). The Avenue of Baobabs is one of the most visited sites in Madagascar. Some of the trees are up to 800 years old and 30 meters tall.
