Ese Brume comes top at the diamond league meet

Nigerian long jumper Ese Brume got her first-ever victory at the Brussels Diamond League meet on Friday, September 2, 2022. She won the Women’s Long Jump event at the Allianz Memorial Van Damme in Brussels, Belgium. The 26-year-old Commonwealth champion leapt a spectacular 6.83m to win the number one spot.

Brume won ahead of Quanesha Burks of the USA, who finished second with 6.54m and Italy’s Larissa Lapichino, who took the third position with 6.52m. Brume has now qualified for the Diamond League Meet final holding in Zurich next week. This is Brume’s first Diamond League final, and she is the second Nigerian to qualify for the Zurich final.
