How to prepare and maintain natural hair at night

Moisturize your hair before bed time
If you wear your natural hair out all day long, the probability is high that it is dry at the end of the day. Spray your hair with mineral water or use a moisturizer of your choice to combat dryness. You may even want to create your own!

Choose the right protective style
Depending on how you want to style your hair the next day, choosing your protective style is crucial. If you want to continue wearing your twist out or a braid out with little effort, the pineapple will be the best option to maintain your hair at night. If you want more defined, elongated hair the next day, you can opt to re-twist or re-braid your hair.

Protect your hair from dryness and breakage
Every natural knows that sleeping on a cotton pillow case causes dryness and breakage. Always protect your hair with a satin scarf or a bonnet. In addition, you can sleep with a satin or a silk pillow case instead, or use both.

Deep conditioning at night
Sleep can double as a deep conditioning session for your hair. This is perfect to do the night before wash day. The challenge is to make sure that your product doesn’t end up all over the bed. Especially if you don’t sleep alone. Wear a plastic cap underneath your bonnet. If any product gets onto the bonnet you can wash it.

The lazy option
Did you go to a party or work late? When you reach home, you want to head straight to bed, not spend time on your hair. Once in a while it’s totally fine to just let your hair be. Just make sure to cover it with a scarf or bonnet for the night. You may just need to moisturize twice as much the next day!
