Thousands of businesses and numerous sectors have been impacted by the on-going Coronavirus pandemic – including the Film Industry.
Exciting Nigerian movies were set to begin showing at cinemas up until COVID-19 hit and Nigeria and the rest world had to form new habits such as social distancing, working from home etc.
As it’s been over a month since major cities went on lockdown, states across the country are gradually opening up with new guidelines issued daily. The Cinema Exhibitors Association of Nigeria (CEAN) shared informative graphics of safety measures via their Instagram account (@ceanigeria).
Some of the measures include:
- Face masks as a pre-requisite for entry.
- Temperature checks at entrances and foyer areas.
- Strict social distancing at foyer areas of no more than 30 to 50 persons at a time.
- 20 minutes end-time in between shows to regulate traffic.
- Deep cleaning of the auditorium after each show using equipment approved by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC).
The publication raises the speculation that Nigerian cinemas could open sooner than many expected. It does show however that the safety of Nigerian cinema-goers is of paramount importance.
